Ken Whittington


Ken Whittington FRICS has extensive knowledge of all rating and valuation matters gained over 40 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors.

He has worked within the Valuation Office followed by nearly 26 years as Director of Rating for a leading firm of Yorkshire based Chartered Surveyors. Read Full

He has dealt with all types of commercial properties throughout the United Kingdom and has gained specialist knowledge with the retail, industrial, educational and car retail markets. He has acted for many local and national public limited companies and has dealt with all classes of rating appeals through to Lands Tribunal.

He now heads up the Carter Towler Rating Team on a consultancy basis.


Pete Bradbury

Associate Director

Pete has recently been promoted and now heads up Carter Towler's Retail Agency department.

With over ten years' experience, including time spent at a large international property company, Pete's knowledge and enthusiasm is second to none, and it is why major brands from across the UK have chosen to appoint him.

He is an excellent communicator and negotiator with a passion for giving solid advice and getting the best deal for his clients. His honest and friendly approach has led to much repeat business. Read Full

Although it is already a very active department within the company, Pete's highly customer-focussed approach is attracting many new retail clients who are looking for a fresh approach to their retail property requirements.

Whether he is acting on behalf of investors, developers, local authorities, lenders or retailers themselves Pete and his team do their utmost to put together the best solutions whether that’s a single unit or entire retail park, city centre or out-of-town.

Despite a busy professional and home life, Pete makes time to keep in shape playing football, golf and tennis.


Chris Lewis

Associate Director

Chris has twenty five years’ experience in Property Management and is responsible for a portfolio of over three hundred properties.

This incorporates a wide variety of sectors, primarily commercial property including industrial, retail and offices but also some residential units. Read Full

Having expanded his portfolio through recommendation, either through private clients or the legal sector, Chris has the drive and determination to continue to grow the firm’s Property Management services.

A keen sports fan, he enjoys watching any cricket or football match, particularly local games and especially where his children are taking part.


Steve Spittlehouse

BSc (Hons), MRICS

Steve has twelve years’ private practice experience and has successfully grown his Property Management portfolio thanks to great client feedback and continued recommendation.

With a background in business studies, he joined the firm in 2002 as a property administrator and went on to undertake a degree course in Estate Management at the University of Reading, qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 2010. Read Full

A key member of the Property Management team, Steve’s understanding of a client’s business requirements and his property management skills have helped to attract new clients and grow existing clients. He is often called upon to assist in professional development and as a training supervisor for APC.

He is also a keen footballer and bass guitar player. Steve is married with a five year-old daughter.


Mark Green

BA (Hons), MRICS

An MRICS qualified Chartered Surveyor, Mark has over 9 years' surveying experience working for Carter Towler.

Shortly after joining the company in 2006, Mark attended the College of Estate Management in Reading, undertaking a distance learning post graduate diploma in Surveying, which he successfully completed in 2008 followed by his APC in 2010. Read Full

He now plays a key role within the Professional Services team where he works alongside his brother Chris providing valuation and landlord & tenant advice to a broad range of clients.

His experience and knowledge has assisted the successful growth of the department's client base and the subsequent expansion of the team. Mark is currently mentoring a number of colleagues working towards MRICS status.

Outside of work, Mark is a keen sportsman and enjoys walking in the Lake District and Dales with friends and family.


Philip Shopland-Reed

BSc (Hons), MRICS
Senior Surveyor

Philip joined Carter Towler's Office Agency team in October 2015 as part of this very busy department's expansion. One of the most active in the Yorkshire region, the office team has extensive knowledge of both the city centre and out-of-town office markets.

He brings extensive experience and project management expertise having assisted with large numbers of lettings, sales and acquisitions on behalf of a wide range of clients including major UK property investment funds, local and national property companies, developers and private clients.

Philip loves a challenge away from the office too - he is a flanker for Aireborough RUFC and snowboarder.


Daniel Duce

BSc (Hons), MRICS

Carter Towler’s Building Consultancy is going from strength to strength; to facilitate the increase in demand for our services we have expanded the team with the addition of Daniel Duce.

A highly experienced Chartered Surveyor, Daniel has worked in the property sector for 15 years overseeing all aspects of building work including design, planning, specification writing and project management. He has particular expertise in condition surveying and building pathology. Read Full

Assisted by the Building Consultancy team, he manages a portfolio of building projects ranging from office and retail conversions to new developments.

As well as his new job at Carter Towler, Daniel also has a new role at home having become a father for the first time just a few months ago. A lifelong Rhinos supporter, he can’t wait to take baby Freddie to his first match.


Carole Towler

Practice Manager

Carole became our Practice Manager in January 2009, working closely with all the Directors but particularly the Management Committee.

She is responsible for the day to day running of the office and is involved in all staff issues, including recruitment. She has a strong HR background, having spent 10 years in the HR Departments at Leeds Permanent Building Society and Deloitte Haskins & Sells.

In her spare time, she is a keen runner, having taken part in numerous 10K races and half marathons both at home and abroad.


Deborah Hardwick

Personal Assistant

Many clients will be familiar with Deborah, who is a key member providing vital administrative support to Tim Towler’s Property Management team, working with Tim for twenty five years.

Part of her daily responsibilities includes organising repairs and refurbishments, management inspections and instructing contractors. She also plays a role in the running of the office with responsibility for the budgets for stationery and provisions. Always busy, these tasks are carried out whilst acting as secretary to Tim Towler and Chris Lewis. Read Full

Prior to joining the firm in 1989, she was a secretary at a consulting engineers and also a debt collecting agency.

Deborah is a keen sportswoman who has enjoyed success in both the Leeds District Badminton League and the West Yorkshire Netball League, most recently as winner of the ladies and mixed doubles handicaps at badminton.


Leanne Flanagan

Commercial Property Manager

Leanne joined Carter Towler in 2009 after ten years of residential property management in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Her strong financial and property background proved a solid foundation to move into commercial property management, where she has established a strong position within the team. Read Full

Working closely with David Priestley, Leanne acts for both corporate clients and high net worth individuals, concentrating on office and retail portfolio management. Her service focused ethos is allowing an expansion of her client base and with it her immediate team.

A fan of the sixties era, Leanne attends Mod weekends across the country and enjoys exploring cities of the world, most recently Barcelona and San Francisco.


Jessica Shaw

BSc (Hons)
Assistant Commercial Property Manager

Recently graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a 2:1 degree in Real Estate, Jessica joined David Priestley’s Property Management team in August 2014. She is now developing her skills across all areas of Commercial Property Management and is currently working towards her APC.

In her spare time, Jessica enjoys shopping and music concerts.


Amy Hines

Architectural Technician

Amy joined Carter Towler in June 2015, providing architectural and design packages to the department.

She has 10 years’ experience within the construction industry, working on projects from inception through to completion in the social housing, new build and commercial sector. She uses her architectural and technical knowledge to produce feasibility studies and detailed refurbishment projects.

Amy became a member of The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists in 2012.


Will Parker

BA (Hons)
Property Manager

A graduate from Chester University Will recently joined Carter Towler's Property Management team.

Will caught the bug for surveying whilst on work experience. He is now immersing himself fully in all aspects of commercial property management as well as undertaking a distance learning post graduate diploma in Surveying with the College of Estate Management in Reading.

Will is an avid, fourth generation, Bradford Bulls supporter!


Nick Verity

Property Management Surveyor

Nick has recently joined Carter Towler from Dacre Son and Hartley. He has 10 years residential and commercial property management experience and is currently completing his APC accreditation.

Appointed to assist Carter Towler's busy and highly experienced Property Management team, Nick is assisting with the management of a broad range of properties on behalf of the company’s investment clients including major financial institutions, pension funds, corporate landlords and high worth individuals.

Away from work, avid sports fan Nick plays rugby, cricket and golf.


Janice Duffin

Residential Property Manager

Janice joined Carter Towler in 2008 after 6 years working in the Property Auction Department of an Auction House in Leeds.

After a brief spell living in Spain she returned to Leeds and joined the residential property management team assisting with the day to day running of the department and is now developing her skills as the Residential Property Manager with responsibility for marketing, dealing with clients and tenants and managing all aspects of the department.

Prior to joining the team she spent 20 years working her way up to becoming Personal Assistant to the Store Manager of a department store in Leeds.


Hazel Cooper

Graduate Surveyor

New graduate surveyor Hazel has just joined our Agency team. She spent a year with Carter Towler gaining work experience whilst studying for her Estate Management degree at Northumbria University and enjoyed working with us so much, she has decided to return!

Hazel, who not only won a Virgin Top Student award but achieved a first class degree, is now looking forward to developing her property career with us.


Jon Kellaway

BSc (Hons)
Property Manager

Recent recruit Jon brings a breadth of customer service and business development experience to Carter Towler. He will be working with the property management team assisting with its diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties across the country.

After graduating from York University with a degree in Economics in 2010, Jon successfully completed a graduate management training programme with a leading global car rental company prior to establishing his property career.

He is currently undertaking a distance learning post graduate MSc in Real Estate with the University College of Estate Management in Reading.

A bit of a foodie, John is a keen chef, an F1 fan and supports Liverpool FC.


Will Beddard

BA (Hons)
Property Manager

Will has recently joined our very busy property management team where he will be assisting with a broad spectrum of properties ranging from single retail units and offices to multi-million pound portfolios.

Since graduating from York St John University in 2015 with a 2:1 in business management, Will has been laying the foundations to his career in property. Initially he completed an estate agency internship before working for a national property management company where he was responsible for a residential portfolio of 750 tenants across the UK.

Keen to enhance his professional credentials and achieve chartered surveyor status, Will is studying for his APC qualifications which he hopes to complete by the end of 2018.

A lover of all sports, Will plays football and cricket for local teams.


Max Vause

Trainee Surveyor

New trainee surveyor Max has joined Carter Towler straight from school. Having completed a placement with us, he decided he definitely wanted to follow a career in property but preferred to combine working with studying rather than going directly to University. Fortunately, Northumbria University is launching a new format Real Estate degree that will enable him to do just that.

Max is due to start his part-time studies in the Autumn but in the meantime is spending time working in each of Carter Towler’s different departments so that he can get a good insight in to the services we provide.

A self-declared ‘petrol head’, Max spends much of his free time restoring and driving classic cars alongside his friends and family.
